Brown leads Ohio to 31-26 win; 1st win at Toledo since 1967

Dorian Brown had career highs with 212 yards rushing and 29 carries and Ohio beat Toledo 31-26 on Thursday night for the Bobcats' first road victory over the Rockets since 1967.
Ohio (6-3, 4-1 Mid-American) led 31-20 on Brown's 51-yard TD run with 8:08 left in the game and the Bobcats held the Rockets at midfield in the final minute for the first win in the series since 1988.
Quinton Maxwell passed for 159 yards and two touchdowns and the Bobcats never trailed.
Toledo (6-2, 3-1) capped the scoring on Logan Woodside's 10-yard pass to Jon'Vea Johnson with 3:28 left, but failed on the 2-point conversion attempt.
Woodside was 32 of 24 for 438 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Johnshon had six catches for 156 yards and two TDs and Corey Jones had seven catches for 115 yards and a score.
The Rockets cut the deficit it to 14-13 and 21-20.

Woodside finds Thompson for 4 TDs, Toledo beats CMU 31-17

 Logan Woodside and receiver Cody Thompson connected seven times for 122 yards and four touchdowns to help Toledo beat Central Michigan 31-17 on Saturday.
It was the second-best scoring game for a wide receiver in program history, trailing just Eric Page with five scores in 2011.
Woodside found Thompson for two 16-yard touchdowns - on back-shoulder throws - in the third quarter as Toledo took a 17-0 lead. On the Rockets' first possession of the fourth, Thompson scored from 11 yards out for a 24-10 lead and the duo added a 34-yard TD with 7:30 remaining.
Woodside went 23 of 32 for 264 yards and four touchdowns for Toledo (6-1, 3-0 Mid-American Conference).
The Rockets forced two turnovers. Central Michigan running back Devon Spalding caught a screen pass late in the first half but fumbled it at goal line for a touchback. In the third quarter, Connery Swift jumped a route and made Toledo's third interception of the season.
Cooper Rush was 18-of-31 passing for 229 yards for Central Michigan (5-3, 2-2). He pulled the Chippewas within 17-7 when he scrambled from 20 yards out and broke several tackles near the end zone.

Toledo rallies past Bowling Green 42-35, unbeaten in MAC

 Kareem Hunt scored from the 3 with 18 seconds left to play as Toledo snapped a late tie and rallied past Bowling Green 42-35 in a Mid-American Conference showdown on Saturday.
The win lifts the Rockets to 5-1, 2-0 MAC as the teams packed 42 points into the game's final 15:02. Hunt gained 99 yards on 25 carries.
Bowling Green (1-6, 0-3) scored consecutive touchdowns in the waning minutes to tie, 35-35 when James Morgan foundMarquis Zimmerman from the 20 and then Teo Redding from the 18.
Corey Jones scored on a 64-yard reception from Logan Woodside to boost Toledo's lead to 27-14 with two seconds left in the third. The teams traded TD passes to start the final period until Morgan forged the tie with TDs 3:40 apart. The freshman threw for 335 yards with five TDs and made Bowling Green history with his third-straight game of 250-yards passing or better.

Woodside tosses 4 TDs passes, Toledo tops E. Michigan 35-20

Logan Woodside threw four touchdown passes, including a 12-yard fade route to Corey Jones with 2:37 left, and Toledo outlasted Eastern Michigan 35-20 on Saturday.
Woodside finished 25 of 31 for 247 yards, while Kareem Huntrushed for 141 yards on 29 carries with a touchdown for Toledo (4-1, 1-0 Mid-American).
Woodside's 15-yard touchdown pass to Michael Roberts at the start of the fourth quarter put Toledo up 28-13. EMU responded with an eight-play, 75-yard drive, culminating with Brogan Roback's 5-yard touchdown toss to Antoine Porter to make it a one-score game with 8:43 left.
The Rockets then went 83 yards in 14 plays, ending with Jones' touchdown reception. On the next possession, DeJuan Rogers picked off Roback to seal it.
Roback went 20 of 38 for 255 yards, one touchdown and the interception for Eastern Michigan (4-2, 1-1 Mid-American).

Williams has 5 TDs; Almond's FG lifts BYU over Toledo 55-53

Jamaal Williams ran for a program record five touchdowns and a career-high 286 yards, and Rhett Almond chipped in a 19-yard field goal as time expired to lift BYU over Toledo 55-53 on Friday night.
There were eight lead changes in the second half.
Logan Woodside matched a career-best with five touchdown passes and a school-record 505 yards passing to lead Toledo (3-1). Jon'Vea Johnson caught three scores and finished with nine receptions for 182 yards.
Woodside threw an interception to Kai Nacua with the game tied at 45-all to set up Williams' 14-yard go-ahead touchdown. On the ensuing series, Kareem Hunt ran for a 7-yard touchdown, Woodside connected with Michael Roberts for the 2-point conversion and the Rockets led 53-52 with 1:11 left.
Taysom Hill, the BYU (2-3) quarterback, led an 8-play, 71-yard drive highlighted by his 33-yard completion to Colby Pearson, and a Toledo face mask penalty before Almond kicked the game winner.

Woodside throws 4 TDs, Toledo rolls over Fresno State 52-17

Logan Woodside hit three different receivers for touchdowns, throwing for four scores and 239 yards overall to lead Toledo to a 52-17 victory over Fresno State on Saturday.
Toledo opened the scoring when Woodside passed to Cody Thompson, who finished with 102 yards receiving, at Fresno State's 20. Thompson skirted two tacklers and got into the corner of the end zone with 9:45 left in the first quarter. On their next series Woodside drove the Rockets 60 yards in six plays, hitting Michael Roberts from the nine for a 14-0 lead.
Toledo (3-0) was ahead 24-0 at the break and led 38-0 with 5:37 remaining in the third.
Toledo amassed 619 total yards while limiting the Bulldogs to 254. Fresno State (1-2) gained only 51 yards on the ground, with 49 of those coming in the second half.
The Rockets dominated their first three opponents by combined scores of 128-30.

Woodside throws 4 TDs to lead Toledo past Maine 45-3

 Logan Woodside threw touchdowns to four different receivers and Toledo rolled to a 45-3 win over Maine on Saturday night.
Woodside finished 13 of 25 for 329 yards and one interception as the Rockets (2-0) rolled up 516 yards of total offense.
Maine opened the scoring before Woodside went to work. He found Corey Jones for an 85-yard score in the first quarter and Corey Thompson for a 64-yarder in the second to make it 17-3 at the half. Jones finished with three catches for 100 yards.
In the third quarter it was Michael Roberts for 21 yards and an 89-yarder toJon'Vea Johnson, sandwiched around Ronnie Jones racing 27 yards after scooping up a punt blocked by Cody Thompson.
The Black Bears had 235 yards of offense, 170 on the ground as quarterback Dan Collins completed 9 of 25 passes for 65 yards.

Toledo overpowers Arkansas State in 31-10 win

Logan Woodside passed for three touchdowns and a career-high 371 yards Friday night to lead Toledo to a 31-10 win over Arkansas State in the season opener for both teams.
Woodside hit 23 of his 31 throws and got help from Cody Thompson, who hauled in five of the passes for a career-high 174 yards, including a touchdown and a 54-yard grab in the third quarter to set up Toledo's final TD of the game. Michael Roberts caught the other two TD passes, a 5-yarder in the second quarter and a 22-yard catch in the fourth.
Kareem Hunt punched in a touchdown from the 1 and Jameson Vest had a 42-yard field goal as Toledo piled up 556 total yards to Arkansas State's 266.
Arkansas State struck first with a 43-yard field goal set up by Chris Humes' fumble recovery late in the first quarter, and got a touchdown in the fourth from Armond Weh-Weh.
