Louisiana-Lafayette cruises to 27-3 win over Texas State

 Elijah McGuire ran for 112 yards and two touchdowns to lead Louisiana-Lafayette to a 27-3 win over Texas State on Saturday night.
McGuire had 20 carries and punched in his touchdowns from the 4 in the second quarter and from the 1 midway through the third. Anthony Jennings completed 18 of his 22 passes for 156 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown throw toKeenan Barnes, while Stevie Artigue had 36- and 42-yard field goals.
The win snapped a three-game skid for Louisiana-Lafayette (3-4, 2-2 Sun Belt).
Texas State (2-5, 0-3) got a 29-yard field goal from Marcus Ripley to cap the game's 12-play, 63-yard opening drive before being held scoreless the rest of the way as Louisiana-Lafayette piled up 392 total yards while holding the Bobcats to 79 yards rushing and 221 overall.
Tyler Jones was 20 of 28 for 142 yards passing to lead the Bobcats.

Appalachian State cruises past Louisiana-Lafayette 24-0

 Taylor Lamb threw for 201 yards and a touchdown, Jalin Moore ran for 106 yards and two scores, and Appalachian State beat Louisiana-Lafayette 24-0 on Wednesday night for the Ragin' Cajuns' first home shutout since 2002.
Appalachian State (4-2, 2-0 Sun Belt) scored on its first four possessions, had a 24-0 lead at halftime and cruised in the second half.
On the Mountaineers' first offensive play, Shaedon Meadorscaught a deep pass from Lamb for a 56-yard gain and Moore punched it in from the 2 for a 7-0 lead. Appalachian State had an 11-play, 92-yard drive on its second drive but settled for a 21-yard field goal. Moore broke free with a cutback for a 41-yard touchdown run and freshman Collin Reed caught his first career touchdown pass from 8 yards out.
Meadors made six catches for a career-high 128 yards for Appalachian State. Lamb completed his first eight passes and was 12 of 16 - including a deflected interception - in the first half. He was just 3 for 10 after halftime.
Elijah McGuire had 43 yards rushing and 10 yards receiving to become the career leader in all-purpose yards for ULL (2-4, 1-2). The Ragin' Cajuns punted on their first three drives and Stevie Artigue's 47-yard field-goal attempt hit the left upright on their fourth possession.

New Mexico State beats Louisiana Lafayette 37-31 in 2OT

 Sebastian Anderson had a game-winning fumble recovery in the end zone in double overtime to give New Mexico State a 37-31 win over Louisiana Lafayette on Saturday night.
The Ragin' Cajuns missed a field goal on the first possession of the second overtime. Then New Mexico State's Larry Rose III fumbled just before the goal line and Anderson, an offensive lineman, recovered it for the winning score.
Tyler Rogers threw for two touchdowns for the Aggies (2-3, 1-1 Sun Belt).
The Aggies were up 24-21 in the fourth when Louisiana Lafayette's Steve Artigue hit a 47-yard field goal to tie it up with 2:58 to play. The Aggies drove it 72 yards, but Parker Davidson missed a 20-yarder as time expired in regulation.
Anthony Jennings threw for 143 yards and a score for the Ragin' Cajuns (2-3, 1-1).

Tulane beats Louisiana-Lafayette 41-39 in 4OT

Glen Cuiellette threw four touchdown passes, including a 7-yarder to Terren Encalade that lifted Tulane to a 41-39 win over Louisiana-Lafayette in the fourth overtime on Saturday night.
The Ragin' Cajuns (2-2) had a chance to tie, but failed on a 2-point conversion after Anthony Jennings hit Elijah McGuire on a 22-yard scoring strike.
It was Tulane's first 4OT game in program history and Louisiana-Lafayette's third 4OT contest.
Cuilette was 10 of 23 for 165 yards passing, with TD strikes of 34 and 27 yards to Encalade before tossing the game-winner and then a 2-point conversion pass to Kendall Ardoin. He also threw a 25-yard TD pass to Darnell Mooney.
Encalade had seven catches for 103 yards for Tulane (2-2) and Andrew DiRocco kicked four field goals, including a career-long 48-yarder.
Jennings threw for 240 yards and two TDs for the Ragin' Cajuns and Stevie Artigue kicked a career-high four field goals.

Louisiana-Lafayette beats South Alabama 28-23 in Sun Belt

Elijah McGuire ran for 223 yards, including a 68-yard game-breaker, and Louisiana-Lafayette defeated South Alabama 28-23 on Saturday night.
McGuire broke through a bunched-up defense on a third-and-1 and raced downfield to give the Ragin' Cajuns (2-1, 1-0 Sun Belt) a 28-17 lead with 7:05 left. The Jaguars (1-2, 1-1) scored with 3:17 remaining on Dallas Davis' 11-yard pass to Gerald Everett but didn't get the ball back again.
McGuire went over 5,000 yards total offense, moving to No. 2 on the school's career list.
Anthony Jennings threw third-quarter passes of 71 yards to Al Riles and 38 to Keenan Barnes to extend the Ragin' Cajuns' lead to 22-7. Davis' 18-yarder to Grant Bell and a field goal tightened the score before McGuire's big run.
Jennings finished 18 of 26 for 256 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Riles finished with 139 yards receiving.
Davis was 21 of 29 with 264 yards a two scores.

Louisiana-Lafayette knocks off McNeese State, 30-22

 Anthony Jennings threw for 170 yards and one touchdown and Elijah McGuire rushed for 139 yards to lead Louisiana-Lafayette to a 30-22 win over McNeese State on Saturday night.
McGuire, who had just 41 yards in the first half, now has 13 games with 100 or more yards rushing. Jennings was 15-of-21 passing and Ja'Marcus Bradley grabbed six for 97 yards.
Louisiana-Lafayette (1-1) was up 14-12 at the break. The Cowboys took their only lead when Trent Manuel nailed a 28-yard field goal with 9:31 left in the third quarter. The Ragin' Cajuns responded quickly, retaking the lead for good on Raymond Calais' rushing score from the seven with 7:18 left.
McNeese State (1-1) closed to within eight when Dylan Long plunged in from the three with 12 seconds left. The ensuing onside kick failed.
James Tabary threw for 237 yards for McNeese State.

Boise State rolls past Louisiana-Lafayette 45-10

Brett Rypien was 22 of 33 passing for 347 yards and two touchdowns, and Boise State cruised to a 45-10 season opening win over Louisiana Lafayette on Saturday.
It was Rypien's sixth career 300-plus yard outing - with Boise State winning all six contests.
Thomas Sperbeck, Cedric Wilson, and Jeremy McNichols each caught touchdown passes, adding 130, 113, and 98 yards receiving, respectively. McNichols also had two rushing touchdows and Sperbeck threw for a TD.
The Broncos scored the first 35 points, including a 48-yard trick play pass from Sperbeck to McNichols. A Stevie Artigue field goal for Louisiana-Lafayette made it 35-3 at halftime. The Ragin Cajuns scored their lone touchdown early in the fourth, when Anthony Jennings found Keenan Barnes from 11-yards out.
Jennings finished with 186 yards passing for Louisiana-Lafayette. Elijah McGuire had 46 yards rushing and Ja'Marcus Bradley caught three balls for 50 yards.
